अज्ञान–लोभयोः परस्परहेतुत्वम्

Mutual Causality of Ignorance and Greed

संवत्सरमुपास्याग्निमभिशस्त: प्रमुच्यते । त्रीणि वर्षाण्युपास्याग्निं भ्रूणहा विप्रमुच्यते,लगातार एक वर्षतक अग्निहोत्र करनेसे कलंकित पुरुष अपने ऊपर लगे हुए कलंकसे छूट जाता है। तीन वर्षोतक अग्निकी उपासना करनेसे भ्रूणहत्यारा भी पापमुक्त हो जाता है

Translation

By tending and worshiping the sacred fire (Agni) for a full year, one who is stained by reproach is freed from that stain. By tending the fire for three years, even one guilty of killing an unborn child (bhrūṇa-han) is released from sin.
