उदके बहव: प्राणा: पृथिव्यां च फलेषु च । नच वक्षिन्न तान हन्ति किमन्यत् प्राणयापनात्,जलनमें बहुतेरे जीव हैं, पृथ्वीपर तथा वृक्षके फलोंमें भी बहुत-से कीड़े होते हैं। कोई भी ऐसा मनुष्य नहीं है, जो इनमेंसे किसीको कभी न मारता हो। यह सब जीवन-निर्वाहके सिवा और क्या है?
Translation
“In water there are many living beings; on the earth and in fruits as well. There is no person who has not, at some time, killed one of them. What is all this, after all, but the sustaining of life?”
