Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical power of loyal friendship and compassionate assistance: in moments of crisis, timely support and the ‘prasāda’ (graceful help) of a wise ally can preserve life and enable one to continue one’s dharmic responsibilities.

Bhīṣma urgently calls for a trusted, wise companion to come at once, blessing him and affirming deep affection. He expresses that his own survival now depends largely on that person’s gracious intervention.
