विधास्ये प्राप्तकालं यत्‌ कार्य सिद्धिकरं विभो । मयि कृच्छाद्‌ विनिर्मुक्ते न विनड्क्ष्यति ते कृतम्‌,'प्रभो! समय आनेपर तुम्हारे अभीष्टकी सिद्धि करनेवाला जो भी कार्य होगा, उसे अवश्य करूँगा। इस संकटसे मेरे मुक्त हो जानेपर तुम्हारा किया हुआ उपकार नष्ट नहीं होगा। मैं इसका बदला अवश्य चुकाऊँगा

Bhishma said: “O mighty lord, when the proper time arrives, whatever action will bring about the fulfillment of your purpose—I shall certainly do it. Once I am freed from this distress, the favor you have shown me will not be lost; I will surely repay what you have done.”
