एवमुक्‍त्वा तु पलितस्तमर्थमुभयोहितम्‌ । हेतुमद्‌ ग्रहणीयं च कालापेक्षी न्यवेक्ष्य च,इस प्रकार पलित दोनोंके लिये हितकर, युक्तियुक्त और मानने योग्य बात कहकर उत्तर मिलनेके अवसरकी प्रतीक्षा करता हुआ बिलावकी ओर देखने लगा

evam uktvā tu palitas tam artham ubhayohitam | hetumad grahaṇīyaṃ ca kālāpekṣī nyavekṣya ca ||

Having spoken thus, Palita set forth a matter beneficial to both sides, supported by reason and worthy of acceptance; then, waiting for the right moment and for a reply, he turned his gaze toward the cat.
