आपदो नोपपद्चन्ते पुरुषाणां स्वदोषजा: । 'जो आत्मरक्षामें तत्पर हैं और भलीभाँति परीक्षापूर्वक निर्णय करके काम करते हैं, ऐसे पुरुषोंको अपने ही दोषसे उत्पन्न होनेवाली आपत्तियाँ नहीं प्राप्त होती हैं ।। शत्रून् सम्यग् विजानन्ति दुर्बला ये बलीयस:
Translation
Calamities born of one’s own faults do not befall those men who are intent on self-protection and act only after well-examined decision. They rightly discern their enemies—who is weak and who is stronger.
