स्वस्ति ते5स्तु गमिष्यामि दूरादपि तवोद्धिजे
svasti te 'stu gamiṣyāmi dūrād api tavoddhije
Bhīṣma said: “May well-being be yours. I shall depart—yet even from afar, O you who have arisen for your own sake in this undertaking, I remain concerned for you.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse conveys a dharmic benediction: even when one must depart, one should leave others with goodwill and a blessing for their welfare, maintaining concern and responsibility beyond physical proximity.
Bhīṣma addresses the listener with an auspicious blessing (“svasti te ’stu”) and states his intention to go away, adding that even at a distance he remains mindful of the addressee’s situation.
