आपद्धर्मनिर्णयः — विश्वामित्र-श्वपचसंवादः

Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca

अमित्रो मित्रतां याति मित्र चापि प्रदुष्यति । सामर्थ्ययोगात्‌ कार्याणामनित्या वै सदा गति:,भिन्न-भिन्न कार्योका ऐसा प्रभाव पड़ता है, जिसके कारण कभी शत्रु भी मित्र बन जाता है और कभी मित्रका मन भी द्वेषभावसे दूषित हो जाता है। वास्तवमें शत्रु-मित्रकी परिस्थिति सदा एक-सी नहीं रहती है

amitraḥ mitratāṁ yāti mitraṁ cāpi praduṣyati | sāmarthyayogāt kāryāṇām anityā vai sadā gatiḥ ||

Bhishma said: By the force of changing circumstances and capacities in worldly affairs, an enemy may come to the state of friendship, and even a friend may become tainted with hostility. In truth, the course of enmity and friendship is never permanently fixed; it continually shifts with conditions.
