अथ तावपि संत्रस्तौ तं दृष्टवा घोरसंकुलम्
atha tāv api saṁtrastau taṁ dṛṣṭvā ghorasaṅkulam
Bhīṣma said: Then those two also, struck with fear, on seeing that dreadful and tumultuous sight, were shaken and alarmed.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how perception of a frightening, disorderly situation can overwhelm even others who were not initially afraid—an ethical reminder that fear spreads and that steadiness of mind is needed to act in accordance with dharma amid turmoil.
Bhīṣma narrates that two individuals, upon witnessing a dreadful and chaotic scene, become frightened as well; the line functions as a transition describing their reaction to what has appeared before them.
