Clinging to old hostility and wasting time in resentment leads to moral downfall; one should recognize the karmic consequences and the urgency of time, since life is steadily being consumed.
Bhishma rebukes an interlocutor, suggesting that the person is lingering in remembrance of an old feud; he warns that such sinful conduct has consequences and that the person’s lifespan is visibly nearing its end.
