मयूरवद्राजधर्मः (Mayūra-vat Rāja-dharma) — The Peacock-Model of Protective Kingship
कर्मस्विहानुरूपेषु न््यस्या भृत्या यथाविधि । प्रतिलोम॑ न भृत्यास्ते स्थाप्या: कर्मफलैषिणा
karmasv ihānurūpeṣu nyasyā bhṛtyā yathāvidhi | pratilomaṁ na bhṛtyās te sthāpyāḥ karmaphalaiṣiṇā ||
Bhishma said: “Here, servants should be assigned—according to proper procedure—to tasks that suit their capacity and nature. One who is intent on results should not place servants in ‘reverse’ or improper roles, for such misassignment violates right order and leads to faulty outcomes.”
भीष्म उवाच
Assign people to duties suited to their abilities and station, following proper norms; do not make contrary or improper appointments, especially if one seeks good results and social stability.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and governance, Bhishma continues advising on orderly administration and household/state management, emphasizing appropriate placement of servants in fitting work.
