सोर्ड्जुनेन हतो वीरो क्रात्रा भ्राता सहोदर: । न चैव विवृतो मन्त्र: पृथायास्तस्य वा विभो,उस वीर सहोदर भाईको भाई अर्जुनने मार डाला। प्रभो! इस गुप्त रहस्यको न तो माता कुन्तीने प्रकट किया और न कर्णने ही
so 'rjunena hato vīraḥ kṛtrā bhrātā sahodaraḥ | na caiva vivṛto mantraḥ pṛthāyās tasya vā vibho ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “That valiant man—my own brother by birth—was slain by Arjuna. Yet, O Lord, this secret was never disclosed: neither by Pṛthā (Kuntī) nor by him (Karṇa).”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of hidden truths within family and polity: secrecy about kinship can shape fate, intensify tragedy, and leave survivors burdened with remorse and moral reflection after war.
Yudhiṣṭhira laments that Karṇa—his full brother through Kuntī—was killed by Arjuna, and he stresses that this crucial secret of birth was never revealed either by Kuntī or by Karṇa himself.
