Educational Q&A

Even after victory, dharma requires compassion toward the defeated and the bereaved. The verse highlights the ethical duty to calm anger and grief through respectful consolation, supported by the presence of wise elders like Vyāsa.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a noble person (likely a close elder or ally) and expresses confidence that Gāndhārī—overwhelmed by sorrow and potential wrath after the war—will soon be pacified, and that the sage Vyāsa will be present to guide and steady the situation.
