Indratīrtha–Ādityatīrtha: Balarāma’s Ritual Bathing, Dāna, and Sacred-Historical Recollections
तस्माद् योडभिमत: काम: स ते सम्पत्स्यते शुभे । देहं त्यक्त्वा महा भागे त्रिदिवे मयि वत्स्यसि
tasmād yo ’bhimataḥ kāmaḥ sa te sampatsyate śubhe | dehaṃ tyaktvā mahābhāge tridive mayi vatsyasi ||
Therefore, O auspicious one, the desire you hold dearest in your heart will surely be fulfilled. O greatly fortunate lady, when you relinquish this body, you will dwell with me in Tridiva, the heavenly world. (Thus Indra, pleased with her austerity, vows, and devotion, grants her a boon and promises her a place in heaven.)
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Steadfast austerity, disciplined observance of vows, and sincere devotion are portrayed as generating spiritual merit that can culminate in the fulfillment of one’s rightful wish and an elevated post-mortem destiny (dwelling in heaven).
Indra, satisfied with a maiden’s tapas, rule-observance, and devotion, addresses her kindly and grants assurance: her cherished desire will be fulfilled, and after leaving her body she will reside with him in heaven.
