Vaiśampāyana said: That fearsome host, famed by the name Dhanañjaya, was renowned. All its warriors were equipped with many kinds of missiles and weapons, and were accomplished in austerity, strength, and valor. Joined with thirty thousand Rudra-like attendants, powerful as Rudra himself, that army was unconquerable to its enemies. It never knew how to turn back from battle. Then Lord Viṣṇu bestowed the Vaijayantī garland that increases strength, and Umā granted two spotless garments, radiant like the sun—divine gifts meant to fortify the young hero for the demands of righteous war.

The passage links martial excellence with inner discipline and divine sanction: true invincibility is portrayed as arising from tapas (self-mastery), courage that does not retreat from duty, and blessings that symbolize righteous empowerment rather than mere aggression.
Vaiśampāyana describes a famed, fearsome army called Dhanañjaya—equipped with weapons, ascetic power, strength, and valor, supported by Rudra-like hosts and unwilling to retreat. The narrative then notes divine bestowals: Viṣṇu gives the strength-enhancing Vaijayantī garland, and Umā gives two spotless, sun-bright garments to fortify the hero.
