Translation
(In the southern (Dakṣiṇātya) supplementary reading, 3 ślokas are added, making 40 in all.) Chapter Forty-Two: In the episode concerning the origin of the sacred ford called Vasiṣṭhāpavāha—Viśvāmitra’s wrath and Vasiṣṭha’s forbearance. Janamejaya said: “How did that fearsome torrent known as Vasiṣṭhāpavāha come to have such dreadful speed? And for what reason did Sarasvatī, foremost among rivers, sweep that ṛṣi away?”
