Trita in the Well (Udapāna-kathā) — Balarāma’s Tīrtha Observances

राजन! उस समय उन्होंने देश-देशमें थके-माँदे रोगी, बालक और वृद्धोंका सत्कार करनेके लिये नाना प्रकारकी देनेयोग्य वस्तुएँ प्रचुर मात्रामें तैयार करा रखी थीं ।। तानि यानीह देशेषु प्रतीक्षन्ति सम भारत । बुभुक्षितानामर्थाय क्लृप्तमन्नं समन्‍्तत:

rājan! us samaya unhoṃne deśa-deśa meṃ thake-māṃde rogī, bālaka aura vṛddhoṃ kā satkāra karane ke liye nānā prakāra kī dene-yogya vastueṃ pracura mātrā meṃ taiyāra karā rakhī thīṃ. tāni yānīha deśeṣu pratīkṣanti samā bhārata. bubhukṣitānām arthāya klṛptam annaṃ samantataḥ.

Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, at that time they had arranged in abundance many kinds of gifts and supplies, prepared across various regions, in order to honor and care for the weary, the sick, children, and the aged. Those provisions were kept ready in these lands, O descendant of Bharata, and food had been set out on all sides for the sake of the hungry.”
