Even amid the urgency of battle, action is best undertaken with right guidance and restraint; placing Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) in front symbolizes choosing dharma-informed counsel and disciplined strategy over rash pursuit.
Sañjaya reports that, upon hearing the mighty archer has entered a lake, the pursuers immediately depart from their place, proceeding quickly with Kṛṣṇa at the forefront to reach the lake.
