Sanjaya said: “Who, born into a royal lineage—especially a Kaurava—would ever create a great and purposeless enmity, as Suyodhana (Duryodhana) has done?”

The verse criticizes needless, self-destructive hostility: even those born to noble responsibility can fall into futile enmity when driven by pride and obstinacy, as exemplified by Duryodhana.
Sanjaya, narrating events to Dhritarashtra, reflects on the Kaurava situation and expresses astonishment that a prince of the Kuru line—Duryodhana—would initiate and sustain such a vast, pointless feud leading to war.
