The verse highlights how anger and martial duty can drive relentless violence in war: even revered elders like Kṛpācārya, when seized by battlefield fury, inflict severe harm. It implicitly invites reflection on the ethical cost of krodha and the tragic escalation inherent in dharma-bound warfare.
Sañjaya reports that a warrior pierces opponents with many arrows. Specifically, Kṛpācārya, enraged in the fight, strikes and wounds the sons of Draupadī with numerous well-made arrows, marking a fierce turn in the ongoing battle.
