Unrestrained Battle Description and Śakuni’s Rear Assault
तौ तत्र समरे वीरौ कुलपुत्रौ महारथौ
tau tatra samare vīrau kulaputrau mahārathau
Sañjaya said: There, in that battle, those two heroes—well-born sons of noble lineages and great chariot-warriors—stood forth, embodying the martial duty and prestige expected of their houses amid the clash of war.
संजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds the ideal of kṣatriya conduct: in war, noble birth and great martial capacity are tied to responsibility—upholding one’s duty and the honor of one’s lineage through courageous action.
