Sañjaya said: Pouring forth a shower of arrows in every direction, Śalya began to harass the Pāṇḍava forces in battle, pressing them hard—including Sātyaki and Bhīma (Vṛkodara). Thus the grim momentum of war was shown, as martial prowess was turned to overwhelm the foe, deepening the ethical weight of violence even within kṣatriya duty.

The verse highlights the harsh reality of k63atriya warfare: skill and force can dominate the battlefield, yet the suffering inflicted intensifies the ethical gravity of combat. It invites reflection on how dharma in war involves duty and courage, but never erases the human cost of violence.
Sanjaya reports that Shalya, fighting for the Kauravas, unleashes arrows in all directions and thereby troubles the P147ava warriors, explicitly including S1tyaki and Bh2bma (V5kodara).
