Sauptika Parva, Adhyaya 8 — Dhṛṣṭadyumna-vadha and the Camp’s Nocturnal Rout

krośantastāta putreti daivopahatacetasaḥ |

Sañjaya said: Their minds, struck down by fate, they cried out, “O father! O son!” In the chaos of flight and slaughter they could not recognize one another, and, bereft of clear judgment, they called helplessly for their own kin—an image of war’s moral collapse where human bonds are reduced to desperate cries amid indiscriminate violence.
