Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament and Kṛṣṇa’s Rudra-Cosmogony Explanation
tat praviddhaṃ tathā bhūmau tathaiva pratyatiṣṭhata | tam uvācāvyayo brahmā vacobhiḥ śamayann iva ||
Thus, when it was hurled onto the ground, that emblem became established there in the very same form. Then the imperishable Brahmā addressed them, as though calming them with his words—setting the scene for restraint after a surge of violent intent.
Even amid the aftermath of violence, the text foregrounds the need for śama (calming restraint): divine speech functions to cool agitation and redirect destructive momentum toward order and stability.
An emblem (liṅga) that has been thrown to the ground becomes firmly established there; immediately afterward, the imperishable Brahmā speaks, seemingly to pacify those present and to prevent further escalation.
