Report of the Night Raid and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament
इत्येवमार्त: परिदेवयन् स राजा कुरूणां नकुलं बभाषे । गच्छानयैनामिह मन्दभाग्यां समातृपक्षामिति राजपुत्रीम्,इस प्रकार आर्तस्वरसे विलाप करते हुए कुरुराज युधिष्ठिरने नकुलसे कहा--“भाई! जाओ, मन्दभागिनी राजकुमारी द्रौपदीको उसके मातृपक्षकी स्त्रियोंक साथ यहाँ लिया लाओ'”
ity evam ārtaḥ paridevayan sa rājā kurūṇāṃ nakulaṃ babhāṣe | gacchānayainām iha mandabhāgyāṃ samātṛpakṣām iti rājaputrīm ||
Thus, lamenting in anguish, the Kuru king addressed Nakula: “Go—bring here that ill-fated princess, Draupadī, together with the women of her maternal family.”
सूत उवाच
Even in extreme sorrow after violence, one should act with dharmic responsibility—gathering and protecting family, maintaining propriety, and ensuring that the afflicted are not left unsupported.
In the wake of tragedy, Yudhiṣṭhira, overwhelmed with grief, speaks to Nakula and instructs him to bring Draupadī—described as unfortunate—along with her maternal-side women/kin to the place where the Pāṇḍavas are gathered.
