Shloka 8

यस्मै देवा: प्रयच्छन्ति पुरुषाय पराभवम्‌ | बुद्धि तस्यापकर्षन्ति सोडवाचीनानि पश्यति,देवतालोग जिस पुरुषको पराजय देना चाहते हैं, उसकी बुद्धि ही पहले हर लेते हैं, इससे वह सब कुछ उलटा ही देखने लगता है। विनाशकाल उपस्थित होनेपर जब बुद्धि मलिन हो जाती है, उस समय अन्याय ही न्यायके समान जान पड़ता है और वह हृदयसे किसी प्रकार नहीं निकलता

yasmai devāḥ prayacchanti puruṣāya parābhavam | buddhiṃ tasyāpakarṣanti so ’dva-cīnān(i) paśyati ||

Sañjaya said: When the gods intend a man’s downfall, they first draw away his discernment. Deprived of clear judgment, he begins to see things in a perverse, inverted way—taking what is unrighteous to be righteous—and persists in that delusion as ruin draws near.
