Vidura said: “Thus these mighty portents—hard to avert—have manifested. O King, because of your ill counsel, they foretell the ruin of the Bharatas.”

Vidura stresses political and moral accountability: when a ruler embraces ill counsel and abandons dharma, the resulting disorder is not merely personal but threatens the entire lineage; ominous signs symbolize the inevitable consequences of unethical governance.
In the Sabha Parva, Vidura addresses the king, interpreting the appearance of powerful, inauspicious portents as warnings. He attributes them to the king’s misguided decisions and policies, and declares that they signal impending catastrophe for the Bharatas.
