Inner resolve (vyavasāya) inevitably expresses itself through conduct and demeanor; ethical steadfastness is recognized not only by words but by visible signs of self-control and determination, especially in moments of hardship such as exile.
Vidura reports that the Pāṇḍavas, by their appearance and evident signs, revealed their settled intention and then departed for the forest—indicating the transition into their period of exile.
