Vidura said: “Yudhiṣṭhira, at each proper time act as is fitting—discerning your rightful duty in every situation, especially when adversity arises and when dharma and material welfare come under strain. O son of Kuntī, descendant of Bharata, I have said what needed to be said; now I take my leave. May you attain well-being and auspiciousness, free from illness. When you return safely from the forest, I shall see you again.”

Educational Q&A

To act appropriately in every circumstance—especially in times of crisis—by aligning one’s conduct with dharma and prudent welfare (artha), and by discerning one’s duty according to time and situation.

Vidura concludes his counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira, offers a blessing for health and auspiciousness, and takes leave, expressing hope to meet again after Yudhiṣṭhira’s return from forest life.
