Vaiśampāyana said: “With this resolve, O Yudhiṣṭhira, come with us again. Having cast the dice, return to the gaming match and play once more, O Bhārata.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ‘settled resolve’ can be weaponized to push a righteous person into adharma: the verse highlights how social pressure and the language of duty can lure one back into a destructive vice (gambling), testing discernment (viveka) and steadfastness in dharma.
In the royal assembly context of the dice episode, Yudhiṣṭhira is urged to come again and resume the dice match—an invitation that functions as pressure to continue a contest already shown to be ruinous and morally compromising.
