दुर्योधनं समासाद्य सामात्यं भरतर्षभ । दुःखारतों भरतश्रेष्ठमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्,वैशम्पायनजीने कहा--भरतकुलभूषण जनमेजय! परम बुद्धिमान् राजा धूृतराष्ट्रने पाण्डवोंको जानेकी आज्ञा दे दी, यह जानकर दुःशासन शीघ्र ही अपने भाई भरतश्रेष्ठ दुर्योधनके पास, जो अपने मन्त्रियों (कर्ण एवं शकुनि)-के साथ बैठा था, गया और दु:ःखसे पीड़ित होकर इस प्रकार बोला
duryodhanaṃ samāsādya sāmātyaṃ bharatarṣabha | duḥkhārto bharataśreṣṭham idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O bull among the Bharatas, having approached Duryodhana who was seated together with his ministers, the grief-stricken speaker addressed the foremost of the Bharatas with these words.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
