उपपन्नं च पाज्चालि तवेदं वृत्तमीदृशम् । यत् कृच्छूमपि सम्प्राप्ता धर्ममेवान्ववेक्षसे,पांचालराजकुमारी! तुम्हारा यह आचार-व्यवहार तुम्हारे योग्य ही है; क्योंकि भारी संकटमें पड़कर भी तुम धर्मकी ओर ही देख रही हो
upapannaṃ ca pāñcāli tavedaṃ vṛttam īdṛśam | yat kṛcchram api samprāptā dharmam evānvavekṣase ||
Bhīṣma said: “O Pāñcālī, this conduct of yours is wholly fitting for you. For even when you have fallen into severe distress, you still keep your gaze fixed upon dharma.”
भीष्म उवाच
True commitment to dharma is tested in crisis; Draupadī’s greatness is that even amid extreme humiliation and danger she continues to seek what is right and lawful rather than abandoning moral discernment.
In the Kuru assembly episode, Draupadī is subjected to grave injustice. Bhīṣma addresses her as Pāñcālī and acknowledges that her insistence on questioning and appealing to dharma—even in such distress—is entirely in keeping with her noble character.
