न विन्लुवन्ति कौरव्या: प्रश्रमेतमिति सम ह । स जन: क्रोशति स्मात्र धृतराष्ट्र विगर्हयन्,कौरव द्रौपदीके पूर्वोक्त प्रश्नपर स्पष्ट विवेचन नहीं कर रहे थे, अतः वहाँ बैठे हुए लोग राजा धृतराष्ट्रकी निन््दा करते हुए उन्हें कोसने लगे
na vinluvanti kauravyāḥ praśrametam iti sma ha | sa janaḥ krośati smātra dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ vigarhayan |
Vaiśampāyana said: “The Kauravas did not desist, thinking, ‘Let him be worn down (by exertion).’ Thereupon the people present began to cry out, censuring Dhṛtarāṣṭra—condemning him for allowing such wrongdoing to proceed without restraint.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
When rulers fail to restrain wrongdoing, they become morally accountable; the collective conscience of society may openly condemn such negligence, emphasizing that kingship is bound to dharma, not mere power or partiality.
In the royal assembly, the Kauravas do not stop their oppressive conduct, expecting the victim to be worn down. The gathered people react with an outcry, reproaching King Dhṛtarāṣṭra for permitting the injustice to continue.
