Duryodhana said: “O Kṣattā (Vidura), you always boast only of the fame of our opponents, while continually disparaging the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. We know well, Vidura, where your affection lies; taking us for mere children, you constantly treat us with contempt.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how arrogance and factional loyalty can distort moral perception: Duryodhana interprets Vidura’s ethical counsel as hostility, showing the danger of rejecting wise advice and mistaking truth-telling for insult.
In the Kuru court, Duryodhana confronts Vidura, accusing him of praising the opposing side and belittling Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons. This marks Duryodhana’s growing resentment toward Vidura’s warnings and sets the tone for further breakdown of counsel in the assembly.
