Vidura said: “I know well the cunning of Saubala’s son. This king of the hills is thoroughly versed in deceit in the game of dice. Let Śakuni go back to the very place from which he came. O Bhārata, do not inflame the fire of conflict between the Kauravas and the sons of Pāṇḍu.”

Educational Q&A

Vidura condemns deceitful gambling as adharma and urges the king to remove the source of manipulation (Śakuni) to prevent escalation into fratricidal war; ethical governance requires restraining vice before it becomes violence.

During the lead-up to the dice match in the royal assembly, Vidura warns that Śakuni is an expert in cheating at dice and pleads that he be sent away, so that hostility between the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas does not ignite into open war.
