भीष्मो द्रोण: कृपश्चैव विदुरश्च महामति: । नातिप्रीतेन मनसा तेडन्ववर्तन्त भारत,भारत! भीष्म, द्रोण, कृप और परम बुद्धिमान् विदुर--ये सब लोग असंतुष्ट चित्तसे ही धृतराष्ट्रके पीछे-पीछे वहाँ आये
bhīṣmo droṇaḥ kṛpaś caiva viduraś ca mahāmatiḥ | nātiprītena manasā te 'nuvavartanta bhārata ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Kṛpa, and the great-minded Vidura followed behind Dhṛtarāṣṭra, O Bhārata, but with hearts not truly pleased.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even revered elders may outwardly comply with royal decisions while inwardly feeling moral discomfort; the verse highlights the ethical tension between loyalty to authority and fidelity to dharma.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Kṛpa, and Vidura proceed behind the king (implied Dhṛtarāṣṭra), but they do so without genuine satisfaction, indicating foreboding or disapproval of what is unfolding at court.
