Nārada said: “That divine assembly is frequented by the gods, the hosts of Pitṛs, and the Sādhyas; by sacrificers of disciplined mind; and by peaceful companies of sages. There Vedic sacrifices, complete with worthy gifts (dakṣiṇā), are continually performed. O bull among the Bharatas, if your understanding is inclined to listen, I shall describe it to you.”

Educational Q&A

The verse links true splendor of a divine court to dharmic qualities: self-restraint (niyatātman), peaceful sagehood (śānta-muni), and Vedic rites performed with proper generosity (sadakṣiṇā). It implies that spiritual order and ethical giving sustain higher realms.

Nārada prepares to describe a celestial assembly. He characterizes it as a place honored by gods, ancestors, and sages, where Vedic sacrifices with appropriate gifts are performed, and he invites the listener—addressed as ‘Bharatarṣabha’—to hear the account.
