Escalation of Wagers and Shakuni’s Repeated Declarations of Victory

Then those energetic men went and conferred with their womenfolk. Having first attended to bodily exercise and the customary personal rites and grooming, and then completing their regular daily observances, they partook of a pleasing meal. Afterward, they entered their private quarters to rest—conducting themselves with orderly discipline and a mind set on well-being.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined living: consultation within the household, attention to health and personal conduct, completion of daily duties, and moderation—suggesting that orderliness and self-regulation are integral to dharma even in royal life.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that the men (contextually the Pāṇḍavas) speak with their womenfolk, perform exercise and personal grooming, complete routine observances, eat a satisfying meal, and then retire to their quarters.
