बाहूनिवैतान् मा छेत्सी: पाण्डुपुत्रास्तथैव ते । भ्रातृणां तद्धनार्थ वै मित्रद्रोहं च मा कुरु,ये पाण्डुपुत्र तुम्हारी भुजाओंके समान हैं, इन्हें काटो मत। इसी प्रकार तुम भाइयोंके धनके लिये मित्रद्रोह न करो
bāhūn ivaitān mā chetsīḥ pāṇḍuputrās tathaiva te | bhrātṝṇāṃ taddhanārthaṃ vai mitradrohaṃ ca mā kuru ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Do not cut them down—these Pāṇḍu sons are to you like your own arms. And do not, for the sake of your brothers’ wealth, commit betrayal of friends.”
घतरयाट्र उवाच
Wealth and factional loyalty must not override dharma: one should not harm close kin who are as integral as one’s own limbs, nor commit betrayal of friends for material gain.
In the Sabha Parva context of escalating hostility over power and wealth, Dhṛtarāṣṭra counsels restraint, urging that the Pāṇḍavas be treated as indispensable family and warning against friend-betrayal motivated by property.
