Prosperity and authority are grounded in ethical restraint and discipline: avoid intruding into others’ affairs, remain steadily engaged in one’s own rightful duties, and protect what has been legitimately gained or entrusted.
In the Sabha Parva context, Dhṛtarāṣṭra articulates a principle of royal and personal conduct—defining the signs of true vaibhava (prosperity/power) as restraint, diligence in one’s own role, and responsible protection of one’s holdings and commitments.
