Rājasūyābhiṣeka-darśana: Duryodhana’s Observation of the Consecration

तस्मादहं विवर्णश्र दीनश्व॒ हरिण: कृश: । शत्रुओंको बढ़ते और अपनेको हीन दशामें जाते देख तथा युधिष्ठिरकी उस अदृश्य लक्ष्मीपर भी प्रत्यक्षकी भाँति दृष्टिपात करके मैं चिन्तित हो उठा हूँ। यही कारण है कि मेरी कान्ति फीकी पड़ गयी है तथा मैं दीन, दुर्बल और सफेद हो गया हूँ

Translation

Therefore I have grown pale, wretched, and gaunt as a deer. Seeing the enemies prosper while I myself sink into a lesser state—and casting my gaze, as though it were plainly visible, upon that unseen Lakṣmī of Yudhiṣṭhira—I have become troubled. For this reason my radiance has faded, and I have become poor, weak, and white-haired.
