Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity
तस्य नान्यो<स्ति वक्ता वै त्वामृते द्विजपुड़व । युधिष्ठिर बोले--नरश्रेष्ठ! मेरे मनमें एक भारी संशय उत्पन्न हो गया है। विप्रवर! आपके सिवा दूसरा कोई ऐसा नहीं है, जो उसका समाधान कर सके
tasya nānyo 'sti vaktā vai tvāmṛte dvijapuṅgava |
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O best of Brāhmaṇas, a grave doubt has arisen in my mind. Except for you, there is truly no other person who can speak in a way that resolves it.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical posture central to dharma: when faced with serious moral or practical uncertainty, one should acknowledge doubt honestly and seek clarification from a qualified, trustworthy authority rather than acting rashly.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a revered Brāhmaṇa, stating that a weighty doubt has arisen and that only this learned person is capable of explaining and resolving it, setting up a forthcoming instruction or counsel.
