Vaiśampāyana said: Then the lotus-eyed Lord set out for the city of Dvāravatī. After bathing and performing japa, he had the brāhmaṇas pronounce auspicious benedictions. Thereupon the mighty-armed Dāruka, having yoked a beautiful chariot dark-blue like a rain-cloud and adorned with the banner of Garuḍa, stood ready in attendance. Seeing that splendid chariot, the high-minded, lotus-eyed Śrī Kṛṣṇa circumambulated it in the auspicious rightward manner, mounted it, and proceeded toward the city of Dvārakā.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage models dharmic conduct before undertaking an important journey: purification (snāna), disciplined prayer (japa), receiving blessings from brāhmaṇas (svastivācana), and showing reverence through auspicious circumambulation (pradakṣiṇā). It presents ethical attentiveness to ritual propriety and respect for sacred symbols.
Kṛṣṇa prepares to depart for Dvārakā. After bathing and japa, he has brāhmaṇas recite blessings. His attendant Dāruka brings a cloud-dark, Garuḍa-bannered chariot. Kṛṣṇa circumambulates it clockwise, mounts, and sets off toward Dvārakā.
