Vaiśampāyana said: Then, at Tumburu’s prompting, those high-minded performers—accompanied by the Gandharvas—sang in celestial melodies, following the proper rules of art. Delighting the sons of Pāṇḍu and the sages, they offered reverent attendance in service, honoring the righteous king through refined music and disciplined performance.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined artistry offered in a spirit of reverence: refined music, performed according to proper rules (yathā-nyāya), becomes a form of honoring dharma and rightful authority through respectful service (upāsanā).
Under Tumburu’s direction, celestial musicians together with Gandharvas sing divine melodies in a fitting manner, entertaining the Pāṇḍavas and the assembled sages while paying respectful attendance upon the righteous king.
