Śiśupāla-vākya: Bhīṣma-nindā and the ‘Haṃsa’ Exemplum

Bhīṣma said: In whatever direction the world moves—upward, sideways, or downward—through all realms together with the gods, the Blessed Keśava stands as the foremost. The sun, the moon, the constellations and planets, the quarters and the intermediate directions—all are established in Him. Just as among Vedic rites the Agnihotra is eminent, among metres the Gāyatrī, among men the king, among waters the ocean, among the stars the moon, among luminous bodies the sun, among mountains Meru, and among birds Garuḍa—so too, in all worlds including the divine, among every support and refuge of existence in every direction, Śrī Kṛṣṇa alone is supreme.
