बहुश: कथ्यमानानि नरैर्भूय: श्रुतानि मे । जन्मकालसे लेकर अबतक इन बुद्धिमान् श्रीकृष्णके जो-जो चरित्र बहुधा बहुतेरे मनुष्योंद्वारा कहे गये हैं, उन सबको मैंने बार-बार सुना है
bahuśaḥ kathyamānāni narair bhūyaḥ śrutāni me |
Bhīṣma said: “Many times—again and again—I have heard from various people the oft-recounted accounts: the deeds and episodes (carita) of the wise Śrī Kṛṣṇa, from the time of his birth onward.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the value of śravaṇa—reverent listening to accounts of a virtuous and wise person. Repeated hearing from many sources strengthens remembrance, discernment, and moral orientation, especially when the subject is Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s exemplary conduct.
Bhīṣma introduces his familiarity with the widely circulated narratives of Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s life and deeds, stating that he has heard them repeatedly from many people—setting a tone of informed testimony and reverence before further discussion.
