Adhyāya 32: Rājasūya-Dīkṣā and Appointment of Court Offices (राजसूयदीक्षा तथा अधिकारविनियोगः)
ततो बहुधनं रम्यं गवाढ्यं धनधान्यवत् | कार्तिकेयस्य दयितं रोहीतकमुपाद्रवत्
tato bahudhanaṃ ramyaṃ gavāḍhyaṃ dhanadhānyavat | kārtikeyasya dayitaṃ rohītakam upādravat |
Then they reached Rohītaka—an exceedingly charming region, rich in wealth, abundant in cattle, and well supplied with grain and provisions—dear to Lord Kārtikeya.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights an ideal of well-ordered prosperity—wealth, cattle, and grain—framed as a sign of a flourishing land and, by implication, of proper governance and auspicious divine favor.
Vaiśampāyana describes the party’s arrival at Rohītaka, portraying it as a beautiful and resource-rich region especially dear to Kārtikeya, marking a transition to events connected with that locale.
