Jarāsandha as Obstacle to the Rājasūya — Kṛṣṇa’s Strategic Genealogical Brief

Sabhā Parva, Adhyāya 13

sarvalokāt paraṁ matvā jagāma manasā harim | aprameyaṁ mahābāhuṁ kāmāj jātam ajaṁ nṛṣu ||

Considering Hari to be higher than all the worlds, he turned to Him in his mind. He sought refuge in that immeasurable, mighty-armed Lord—unborn, yet appearing among men by His own will—thereby placing the coming decision under divine guidance rather than mere personal resolve.

Educational Q&A

Major undertakings should not rest on mere personal determination; one should seek higher guidance and act with humility, recognizing the Lord as supreme and immeasurable, and aligning plans with dharma.

The narrator describes a mental turning toward Hari: the decision-maker (in context, Yudhiṣṭhira) regards Kṛṣṇa as superior to all and inwardly takes refuge in Him, acknowledging the paradox of the Lord being unborn yet manifesting among humans by His own will.
