Vasudeva said: “O bull among men, today the end of this lineage has arrived. Bībhatsu (Arjuna) will soon come to this city of Dvāravatī.”

The verse underscores the inevitability of decline even for great dynasties: when the destined end arrives, events unfold swiftly. It frames the collapse of the Yādava line as a moral and cosmic turning-point, reminding the listener that worldly power and prosperity are impermanent and subject to time.
Vasudeva speaks with foreboding, declaring that the end of the family has come that very day, and he anticipates Arjuna’s imminent arrival at Dvāravatī—setting the stage for Arjuna to witness and respond to the catastrophe that has overtaken the Yādavas.
