इति श्रीमहाभारते कर्णपर्वणि युधिष्ठिरहर्षे षण्णवतितमो<ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate karṇaparvaṇi yudhiṣṭhiraharṣe ṣaṇṇavatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus ends the ninety-sixth chapter of the Karṇa Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, known as “Yudhiṣṭhira’s Joy.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through argument but signals a thematic emphasis: even in the midst of war, moments of ‘harṣa’ (relief/joy) are framed within dharma and narrative consequence, reminding the reader that emotional states in the epic are ethically charged and tied to duty, outcome, and conscience.
This line closes the chapter: the narrator’s discourse reaches a stopping point, and the text formally records the parva (Karṇa Parva) and the chapter’s identifying theme (“Yudhiṣṭhira’s Joy”), preparing the reader for the next segment of the war narrative.
